I was asked recently how I’m different from a business coach.
The question threw me for such a loop because I’d never seen the connection.
But then he explained that I’m talking about numbers, and when you work with a business coach, they always want to know your numbers – and that’s always his least favourite part of the meeting.
I get it.
In our culture, sharing certain kinds of numbers is like showing someone your underwear drawer.
(Actually, I once had a client who told me she’d rather show someone her underwear drawer than her numbers! )
But here’s the thing: I’ve never been one to judge clients based on their numbers.
My job is to help you improve your numbers.
Your coach is there to help you with high-level thinking and strategy, such as:
Have you mapped out your buyer journey? Are you aware of their pain points?
Should you bring in a new product or service?
Should you try direct outreach? Publicity? Advertising?
We’ll identify together the key business questions that your data can help answer, which serve your overall business strategy.
Then we’ll consider how to get the data – and whether all of it is worth obtaining.
Then, we’ll put those systems into place. Some can be quite simple; some can be more elaborate. It all depends on your business, your questions, and your strategy.
I’m also there to help you with the nitty gritty questions that come up along the way, like:
What threshold should you offer free shipping at to strike the balance between getting more sales and covering your costs?
What’s the optimal price for this product?
What kind of payment terms should you offer clients to strike the balance between affordability for them and cash flow when you need it?
