Is today a “take it” day for cooking/baking?
I enjoy cooking and baking from scratch, though I don’t spend a great deal of time on it currently. When I first moved to the UK, for the first 2 years, I couldn’t work for pay or as a volunteer, as part of the immigration restrictions. I used that time to learn how to cook and to understand kitchen science at a deep level. Cooking, after all, is just chemistry for hungry people.
America’s Test Kitchen became one of my favourite resources – they will test the same recipe many times with slight tweaks as they go, to see what matters, what doesn’t, and what methods and ingredients create what results.
